About dahlia's?

I have dahlia's growing in pots. They have loads of heads but are dying before they flower. Are they to cramped in the pots, and is it to late to move them into the flower beds?

About dahlia's?
I have Dahlias growing pots and they are fine. How often do you water them? They need plenty of water especially on very sunny days. You can plant them in the garden now and still have a good show before the frosts arrive but remember they are frost intolerant so need protection i.e. when the foliage dies down, either dig them up and leave them to dry in a cool, dry place and store them in dry sand until the spring or leave them in the ground and mulch over the area to give it a bit of protection from heavy frost.
Reply:no, you still have until the end of oct. but they are perenials, so it's better that they are in the ground anyway~gorgeous flower by the way!! Love 'em!!
Reply:It's the weather this year. I had 2 dozen in pot's and the same happened to me. Dead head and if this weather we're having warms up then you will have more blooms.
Reply:yes its too late to plant them in flower beds, plant them in the spring
Reply:I would re-pot them into larger pots. Make sure also that they have plenty of drainage and that the pots are not waterlogged
Reply:The reason the flower heads are dying and falling off is due to the adverse weather conditions(rain). It is probably too late to plant into beds as dahlias have to be lifted, dried and stored over winter in a frost free environment, otherwise they will rot and the tubers will be useless
