Who Killed Elizabeth Short - The Black Dahlia?
They didn't know back in 1947, and they still don't know today. They may never know. It's tragic for Elizabeth and her surviving family that her killer hasn't been discovered yet. I hope that the movie honors Elizabeth Short's life.
Reply:dunno...saw this show on cold case file about her and they made it sound like that they knew who it was. some surgeon whose son turned him in or something.
Reply:Until recently, I thought it was most likely George Hodel who was guilty of the crime.

I never thought the pictures of his 'mystery' woman were Elizabeth, but the evidence sure pointed in his direction, didn't it?

Not to mention, the guy was a nutjob, what with his incestuous perversions and just perversions in general.

Some even think he was guilty of the crime and staged her body in that way to imitate a particular piece of artwork by his friend Man Ray, of whom he was possibly jealous.

Who really can say for certain?

I always thought he was the one who did it...until I dug a little deeper and came to a sickening conclusion:

Elizabeth Short's Mother said when she last spoke with her, Elizabeth had told her she was going to be meeting with some big Hollywood director regarding a screen play. Apparently, Elizabeth never mentioned the director's name but insisted he was 'really big.'

One of Elizabeth's friends later confirmed that man to be Orson Welles.

If you read up on the whole Orson Welles tie in, it makes an awful lot of sense.

Even more sense than George Hodel.

What is particularly disturbing is the movie Orson was directing at the time of the murder - 'The Lady from Shanghai.'

The set consisted of dolls cut in half and posed.

No ****.

If you study up on it, you will actually see an interesting timeline regarding his behavior after the murder and what appears to be a confession at his best buddy's funeral years later.

Makes you wonder, that's for sure.

I'd really like to know what that poor girl saw before she died.

I'd REALLY love to know who did this to her.

I can't imagine the hell she must have gone through.

It is so tragic a death.
Reply:I've always been interested in the case but never really looked it up. I'm going to have to read more into it before I give you an answer.
Reply:The *obvious* answer would be Jack Wilson.....and while one should naturally be suspicious of obvious answers, quite often they turn out to be true. So he would be my primary candidate.

Regardless of who killed Miss Short, it was a cruel and senseless crime, and a sad waste of a young life.

And it is also sad that this case will likely never be satisfactorily resolved. She did not deserve to die like that, but she - and her killer - definitely deserved justice to be done.
Reply:They still don't know. There are many theories, but no real evidence.
