How do I preserve my dahlia bulbs for re-planting next season?

Preserving Dahlia tubers is simple. Grand dad use to do his all the time this way. When the last frost hits them dig them up. Lay them out for a day or two so the dirt on them dries. Shake or rub off the loose dirt. Package according to your color scheme with little tags or labels on a root or two. Place them in some dry saw dust and cover them using a cardboard box. Place in a cool dry area till spring. This worked for years for Grand dad. I hope it works as well for you.

Lift and store the Dahlia tubers each fall. After the first frost, cut the stems down to 6 inches above ground. With a spade cut around the plant and gently ease the tuber out of the soil. Discard any broken tubers.Place the tubers

upside- down for a week, under cover, to drain off the water in the hollow stems. Place the tubers in shallow boxes and barely cover them with slightly damp peat moss. Store the box in a frost-proof place at 41 degrees F. Check the tubers every so often for disease and shrivelling. Shrivelled tubers may be placed overnight in a bucket of water. Dry the tubers thoroughly before storing them again.

In May when the danger of frost is passed replant the tubers at least 4 inches deep.
Reply:SEAL IT IN A PLASTIC BAG.

PUT IT IN A REFRIGERATOR
Reply:you need to dig them up and remove any dirt from the bulbs.rinsing under cold water is fine as long as the are patted dry.store in a dark, dry space.a closet is a good choice.check them regularly and disposed of any bad bulbs.

a little trick is to place them in a strawberry or bluebeerry container, the little green ones that have the holes thru them.and then plant them just to the top of the container.then just dig up the container at the end of season.also by planting at differant times in the spring and summer.you will have dahlias blooming thru-out the growing season.good luck
Reply:I dont know which place u are residing.%26amp; waht teperature u are having during the day/night.

Reply:Put them in a paper bag, not plastic, so they can breath and put them where you keep your potatoes and onions.
