I read that the movie was a real let down and that the Beth (the victim) was only in the movie 20 min.....do you know anything about the crime? I read that they know Ed Burns did it...why wasn't he convicted?
Black dahlia--the crime, not the movie--Who's Ed Burns?
Ed Burns was dating Beth Short sometime prior to her murder and became a suspect. Beyond his involvement in the Dahlia case, Burns was essentially a nobody.
Although the police lost interest in him, recent armchair detectives have been pushing for him to be considered a prime suspect in the killing, largely based on complicated cryptological "clues" contained in letters sent to the police.
Reply:He's related to George Burns.
Reply:Ed burns is an actor/director/screenwriter.... he is in his 30's now wasnt alive during dahlia time
Reply:movie sucked - yeah it wasn't about the crime, not really.
There was an Eddie Burns back in 50's, but don't quote me, he could have been Eddie Burn. Ed Burns current day is a hunky actor who wrote and directed the Brothers Mulligan - Irish family of brothers living in Boston. He also had a supporting role in Saving Private Ryan.
Reply:They did not have enough evidence conclusively to convict anyone. The film is not a really good one to depend on for facts. It is fiction and is based on a novel that admits that the Black Dahlia murder was never solved. The film now seems to be more about the relationhip between to cops and their girlfriend than about the real murder of Elizabeth Short. I agree that you should Google it for more information.
Reply:the movie is a fictionalized version of the real crime. So some characters in the movie have been invented to make it a more interesting movie. They never had enough proof to convict him. Google "the black dahlia", there are some interesting articles out there.
Silly people, there can be more than one person in the world named Ed Burns. There is also one that is an actor/director,etc. but the name of the dahlia's killer was also ed burns.
