Was the "Black Dahlia" movie based on fact or fiction ?

The Black Dahila was the nick name given to a woman that was killed in L.A , her real name was Elizabeth Short. The movie is supossedly based on her murder, even though it barely touched on it. The only real thing in that movie was the fact that she was murdered, and because Elizabeth was an up and coming actress that was very pretty, and she had done some risque' things in her past...... they dubbed her " The Black Dahlia" after a movie that she loved called " The Blue Dahlia" (Elizabeth had a penchant for wearing black...hence the black part came in)

The movie is a travesty..... and an injustice to this poor woman that was actually murdered so horrifically.....

I think the movie spent maybe 15 minutes dealing with her murder, and the rest of the time it was this fictional, crappy story...that had nothing to do with Elizabeth Short.

It was based on a real murder, but the events that happened in the movie aren't all true
Reply:It is based on a real unsolved murder. The details in the movie is made up.
Reply:i seem to do not know i never watched the black dahlia
Reply:Based on a real case but the storyline was fiction.
Reply:loosely based on fact.
Reply:it was inspired by a real hollywood murder mystery case. you should google it or look it up on wikipedia. very interesting...
Reply:It is a real story, as I recall from memory, Elizabeth Short was murdered. She was a Hollywood actor, or a Marilyn Munroe-type character. The storylines the movie presents didn't actually happen.
Reply:Fact!! it was about the brutal murder of 22 year old wannabe actress Elizibeth Short. On January 15 of 1947 she was found nude beaten and cut in half.
