What is the black dahlia about it?
It's about the murder of Elizabeth Short, that happened in 1947. There is a web site posted below if you would like to check it out...but be careful, there are some graphic photos. I found this site a few years ago doing a paper in college for a forensics class.

Reply:Real life story of the murder of a young lady named Elizabeth Short 1924-1947. I don't think she was an actress, nor was she trying to become one. She was 23 at the time.





Hard to say what makes her murder so famous--or infamous if you


prefer. She received the name 'black dahlia" because there was a movie out that same time called The Blue Dahlia". I'm not familiar with the movie.





The movie about the Superman actor is called Hollwoodland. It's about George Reeves who played Superman/Clark Kent in The Adventures of Superman in the 50s, He died in 59 and there's always been a controversy about it. Officially he committed suicide, but there has always been a theory about possible murder

Reply:I wouldn't call it a "true story." It's an adaptation of a 1987 novel by James Ellroy, The Black Dahlia, which is written in the noir style and centers on the notorious case of Elizabeth Short's murder, but is very loosely based on historical facts. Just don't see it and then think it's actually an accurate portrayal of the case. But it is a very notorious unsolved murder case, and I guess the darkness and mystery surrounding it and the Black Dahlia herself would have seemed to fit the mood/style of the story Ellroy wanted to write. Besides that, the case just generates a lot of natural interest, even now, not to mention what kind of obsession/entertainment for the masses it would have inspired back then.
Reply:It's a true story about the murder of an aspiring actress in 1947. The crime was particularly grisly - the woman was dismembered and found out in the open - and is apparently still unsolved.





Also, the film Hollywoodland is about Steve Reeves, who played Superman in the 1950's on TV. His death was ruled a suicide, but the film raises doubts.





Both about the dark side of Hollywood.
Reply:it is about a youg aspiring actress looking for a quick way to fame. she ends up doing boot leg pornos and other things to support herself. she get mutilated in an open field and cut in half.I would suggest you go see the movie.
